Tarah & Eric’s wedding at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay Featured in San Francisco Brides Magazine!

January 30, 2009

San Francisco Brides is a brand new “luxury” bridal magazine by the same people the put out San Francisco Magazine. For their inaugural issue, they chose to feature Tarah & Eric’s Half Moon Bay wedding at the Ritz Carlton as a classic example of the perfect Bay Area wedding. Those gorgeous details were pout together by Floramor a fantastic floral designer & event planning company. There’s also a highlight from Shalini & Martin’s wedding. We are sending out copies of the magazine as a gift to all our clients, but we have a few extras so please let me know if you’d like one sent to you!

We Get Five Stars!!!

January 21, 2009

Old car engagement session

Whoo-hoo! We got another 5 star review on yelp, from our amazing clients Jen & Travis, who by the way so much fun & super easy to work with! Travis wrote this incredibly thoughtful and detailed review for us, which you can read right here:

“Sorry, this review is kind of long, but I have so many good things to say about Geoff White Photographers!  I also waited a little to write this review until we received our final products, because I wanted this review to be legit from beginning to end.

Geoff and Lara photographed our wedding in July 2008 and also did our engagement session a few months before that.  My wife and I could not be any happier with their services.  They are very cool and easy to work with.  I believe their experience and easy-going personalities make for a great combination that keeps things relaxed, yet professional.  Geoff and Lara each bring their own perspective too, so there is no shortage of beautiful, creative, and unique photographs.  They are a great team.  And I think they have their own little friendly husband-wife competition going on to see who will get the best photos, so you can be sure that they are always working hard to capture the best shots.

They use digital photography equipment, which was a big plus for us, because we had a “green” wedding.  Geoff stays on top of the latest technologies, so I believe the quality of the photographs was uncompromised compared to traditional photographs.

We had all final products within just a few months of the wedding.  Their process for editing and customizing the products was easy, and again, we could not be happier with the results.  The quality of our album, DVD slideshow, gallery portrait, etc. are excellent.  They also offer a cool feature where you can customize a matted album with different photo sizes and layouts, so it has the flexibility of a magazine-style layout but the traditional look and feel of a matted album.  We also have all low and hi-rez digital negatives.

Something that we didn’t factor into our initial decision to hire them but turned out to be a pleasant surprise was their office staff; they were very helpful with some of the tasks leading up to the wedding and again with post production.

Skimp on other wedding extras if you have to, because nothing lasts longer than your wedding photos.  Every penny is worth it.  I have no reservations recommending Geoff White Photographers for their wedding photography services.  We liked them so much, we will also consider them in the future for their other services, such as maternity, baby, or family portraits”.

This one is definitely going on the website in our testimonials section!

Don’t Miss THE bridal show of the year!

January 13, 2009

Sunday, January 18th, 11am-4:00pm.This is going to be hands down, the best of the best. If you are planning your wedding, you should definitely attend. It’s held at the Four Seasons San Francisco, and for the $28 entrance fee, you will be treated to the most decadent food, desserts & champagne. But the real reason to go is the chance to see & meet with so many of the wedding industry’s best in one location. In the Bay area, most bridal shows are filled with newbie wedding vendors trying to get their business started, but this show is the exception-this is where all the top vendors are. You get to see the trends for the coming year, get great ideas on florals & tabletop design, check out lighting, photographers, linens, planners, invitations etc. Our booth is going to be amazing, and John Woods of Enhanced Lighting will be providing the tenting & lighting for our booth. Event lighting really enhances an event (and the photography) so it’s great to have the opportunity to see it all on display. There’s also an entire room filled with tabletop designs, showcasing the coming trends for this season, all by  Floramor. There’s even a tent dedicated to signature cocktails, where you can try different flavors and see what you might like as your own signature cocktail. Maybe save that area for last!  For more information, just go to their website:  A Five Star Afternoon  As I said, if you are planning your wedding, this is the show to attend. You will learn so much, get a chance to talk to different vendors, see trends, sip champagne, and enjoy all the sights and sounds of the luxurious experience.

Travis — Ah man, we missed it. The SF wedding fair at the Four Seasons is so awesome. We were going to go again even though our wedding is over! Maybe next year...   ( January 23, 2009 @ 6:06 pm )

Lorri & Alex tie the Knot!

Lorri & Alex, both from New York, had a lovely & elegant wedding ceremony at Stanford. Despite the rain, both Lorri & Alex were so focused on each other they hardly noticed. And we were so fortunate to be at Stanford on a rainy day, all those covered walkways gave us the ability to get some great outdoor portraits for them. All the details were orchestrated by Isabella from Florabella Weddings and of course she also did all the florals. Autumn, my very favorite season, was the theme used for their reception, and it turned out amazing. Here’s a little look:

Stefanie — I am planning an October wedding and saw this beautiful wedding you photographed, Lorri and Alex's. I saw the beautiful place where they held their reception and I was wondering if you could tell me the name of the place where the reception took place. Also by chance do you know who did their wedding cake? I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer in these questions!   ( October 10, 2009 @ 6:50 pm )

lara — Hi Stefanie, the wedding reception was held at Sharon Heights Country Club in Palo Alto. I don't recall cake maker off the top of my head but give us a call next week and well look it up for you.   ( October 10, 2009 @ 9:26 pm )

Off to PPA

January 10, 2009

Geoff & I are headed to Phoenix for the week, where we will attend PPA, an annual photography conference we attend to check out new products & stay current. Plus it’s fun to connect with our photographer friends from all over the country. If I’m lucky (very lucky) Geoff & I might sneak off for an afternoon to Sedona, a place I have always wanted to see. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Check Out our Presentation Room!

January 9, 2009

For those of you who have not had the opportunity to come to our studio, this is our presentation room where we meet with clients. The isn’t a more visually impressive way to view images, and some of our clients come back after the wedding for their premiere, where we show them a special slideshow presentation of their images. It’ s a great way to enjoy your images for the first time. The screen itself is 9 feet wide. Below the screen sits our cherished pair of Vandersteen 5’s. Well, technically those are Geoff’s speakers. Mine are in the music room, with the tube amps…

Presentation space

When not working, this room is great for movies & video games. One thing that hasn’t quite worked is that seating for movies & video game parties has been limited, so this winter we are building a second row of theatre seats with a riser, so the view is unobstructed. When we aren’t photographing, Geoff & I are really into movies & listening to music, so this space really allows us to enjoy all our passions (photography, movies & music) in one location! I’ll post new images once the room is finished. We are going to kick it off with a Godfather I & II double feature party. (I don’t recognize Godfather III, that was a mistake that should be ignored). The Godfather is my all time, absolute hands down favorite movie of all time. I’m really excited!

Pritha & Rhett celebrate thier wedding at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay

January 8, 2009

Pritha & Rhett had a double ceremony, and Indian ceremony in Los Angeles & a week later, a church ceremony at Stanford Memorial Church with the reception at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay. We didn’t get to be with them at the Los Angeles wedding, but we documented every inch of the Bay Area celebration! This amazing celebration was orchestrated by our good friend & planner, Jean Marks of Jean Marks Weddings

Beach portrait winter wedding

Pritha looked gorgeous in her dress & accented in red details. Our friend Armando of Get Your Do Up! did her hair & makeup:Indian wedding ritz carlton

Prior to the ceremony we met the couple at the Ritz Carlton so we could take advantage of the amazing views for the portraits, as we wouldn’t be getting back there until after the sunset. When you are celebrating at a beautiful venue like this, you want to be sure & take advantage of the backdrop & opportunity for stunning, yet relaxed portraits (this is just a sneak peek):

And off to the ceremony! Look at that bouquet, simple elegance can make a big statement:

Pritha & Rhett’s first dance was to Led Zepplin’s “Thank You” which (in my mind) makes them ultra cool…

First dance at the ritz carlton

When you order the inter-mezzo course at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, it has a very dramatic entrance, all the waiters line up & come out at once with these glowing trays. The Banquet Captain, Cee Y (I don’t think I’m spelling correctly) made sure we had a couple of these for, you know, “photography purposes.” Cee Y is the BEST!
