Autumn Wedding Inspiration

by Lara on August 4, 2008

For those of you planning an autumn wedding, here are some ideas to inspire you. I love the rich fall colors, it’s my favorite time of year & the weather here in the Bay Area is amazing. Starting with fall wedding ceremony decor  ideas:

This cascading pumpkins display is perfect for weddings. This is an easy DIY idea for an autumn themed wedding. Pumpkins and gourds are easy to find in the fall, and if you are planning a November wedding, just head out to Half Moon Bay pumpkin patches right after Halloween for some great discounts on all the pumpkins you could ever want. Half Moon Bay is called the pumpkin capital of the world.

Deep oranges signify the autumn season, and flowers and arrangements with more texture and structure (as opposed to something light and airy). I love these miniature orange roses in metal buckets, tied with brown ribbon.

All the groomsmen wore ties in various shades of greens to match the bridesmaids dresses. I love to see groomsmen in suits, I think they are more comfortable, and it allows you to tie into the color theme with the tie (no pun intended!):

The greens look crisp and perfect for a fall wedding!

Fall wedding colors can take on many different expressions: 2 different takes on the chocolate bridesmaids dresses with dark pinks:

Flower girl’s kissing ball in perfect fall colors:

The maple leaf shaped maple syrup bottles were selected to honor the groom’s Canadian heritage:

The table linens can make a big impact on the overall feeling and mood of the event. These burnt orange table linens set the perfect mood for an autumn wedding celebration. Fall wedding centerpieces should feature fall colors and textures. Avoid flowers that are too light and airy, this is all about texture.

This reception was lit by candle light, and the florist, Sharla Flock of Sharla Flock Designs used pears for the place settings & maple leafs throughout. The candle light really added to the mood (but makes it a bit tricky for your photographer!)

You can see they selected 3 different shades of autumn colors for their table cloths. Colorful linens make a huge impact on the overall look-warm chestnut, burnt orange and a crisp orange created a very fall feeling without overdoing it.

Couple of different fall wedding centerpieces to give you some more ideas-again, notice the texture is stronger for fall:

I hope you’ve enjoyed these autumn wedding inspiration ideas as much as I have enjoyed sharing them! You can also visit our more recent post on fall wedding ideas for lots more great images.

You nailed it! As an event designer I’m always looking for photographers who can capture the details and essence of our invested efforts and you skillfully accomplished just that. You’d be surprised how few clients remember or had the opportunity to get the up close and pristine view of the reception at precisely this point in time!

Hi Tracy, try Neiman Marcus. that tie was purchased several years ago, but that is where it was bought. Good luck!
