Groom’s Style File

by Lara

So much attention is paid to the bridal gown, I thought it was time we give some attention to the guy’s attire. What should a groom wear? I’m a big fan of khaki suits for outdoor summer weddings, and I also love seeing a suit personalized with a cool tie. Here’s a prefect example of both:

For the MANY requests we have gotten over the years regarding the gorgeous orange tie above, this tie was purchased at Saks 5th, and the brand name is Charvet.

I would have never guessed a white suit could look so sharp, but it was the ultimate classic look. Adding a pop of color gives it pizazz:

I get a lot of questions about ivory & off white tones, such as , if the bride’s dress is ivory, should the groom’s shirt & tie also be ivory? Personally, I don’t think it makes that much of a difference-what’s bad is when the bride’s shoes are white and the dress is ivory. Here’s a few off whites:

Travis elected to go without bouts as a way to be more environmentally friendly. Instead he gave all his groomsmen pocket squares.

Just a little bit of color makes a big impact:

That piece of fabric attached to his bout is actually a piece of the bride’s dress fabric, as a surprise for him:

Some gold & silver looks:

This is great as Im struggling at the minute what to do with my Groom and his outfit. You dont have any photos that I can see but Im wanting to know whether my dress being off-white(antique white) will go well with a grey suit? I have a dusty pale pink for my girls and am liking the idea of grey as we are having a garden wedding and its a bit more casual.Do you have any photos with grey and ivpry together?

I have been going crazy trying to find the blue tie that you used in the second photograph here with the khaki suit. It’s absolutely perfect. I’m not sure if you might be prohibited from telling me due to infringement rights or advertizing, but if you can at least point me in the right direction to tracking it down….I would SOOOOOOOO appreciate it.

Your work is amazing and I’m hoping my Groom can look like one of yours. Please help.

I completely agree with you Geoff. There is so much emphasis on the bride that sometimes the groom doesn’t get properly seen to. I hope this post persuades brides and photographers to focus their attention on the groom for at least a few minutes. Thanks
